Gracie

Gracie was born in August, 2004. She came home in October to live with her older sisters, Megan and Sophie, also wiener dogs. She quickly earned the nickname Tyson by dragging her puppy "cousin" Macy around by her ear as they wrestled.

Gracie enjoyed the usual – chewing nylabones, and pulling squeakers out of new toys, along with the stuffing. Gracie’s older sister Megan passed away in December, 2007 and in March, 2008, a new little brother, Gunney, a long-haired wiener dog, came to live with us. Gracie is a kind big sister, showing lots of patience as she plays with her new little brother.

Gracie is a wonderful little girl, but what makes her "Pet of the Month" material, is her recent battle with IMHA. In July, Gracie got sick with immune-mediated hemolytic anemia and has literally been battling to stay alive.

Three blood transfusions and several hospitalizations later, Gracie is hanging in there. Thanks to the love and care of her family and the staff at Orchard Road, she is slowly getting better and will soon be wrestling her little brother again.
